Jenny and Peter's Alnwick Garden Wedding
A North East Garden Wedding Venue
Those who know me will know I come from a Geordie family (on my mum's side) and love capturing weddings in the North East. I recently shot a Hexham wedding that you can view here and a wedding at Kirkley Hall you can see here.
Alnwick Gardens is a stunning venue which I've had on my bucket list for quite some time. When Jenny enquired about the day she was planning I was so excited, the gardens are a beautiful backdrop!
Bridal prep took place at a cool hotel in Alnwick called The Dirty Bottles. The Dirty Bottles in the window have been untouched since a man who was cleaning them had a cardiac arrest and died while attending to them. Besides that, the food is highly recommended! Jenny was then chauffeured by her brother through the Alnwick Castle Estate to the gardens to get married, and I loved waiting for her with the castle in the background!
The day went so quickly; it was filled with music and fun. Jenny’s bridesmaids were incredible and so helpful. Throughout the day one of the girls would help us with the portraits, arranging the dress and holding the bouquet. I highly recommend getting the bridesmaids on board to help during the portraits, it’s so helpful.
We ran out for golden hour just at the perfect moment and Sue, Jenny's bridemaid helped with holding the bouquet and arranging the dress, so we had as much time to capture portraits. The funniest/horrifying moment of the wedding (for me) was when I told the bridesmaids to drop their bouquets. What I meant to say was lower their bouquets, but it was too late. One bridemaids dropped the bouquet and resulted in laughter from the entire bridal party which I managed to capture on camera!
Lucie was an absolute joy to work with - exceptionally helpful and calm, not to mention unobtrusive throughout the wedding day which made our guests feel at ease. The resulting photos were beautifully natural and we couldn't have asked for more! We absolutely loved the photos and Lucie's style of photography and wouldn't hesitate in recommending her to everyone we know.” Mr and Mrs Houghton
