Carmen and Hari's Pre Wedding Shoot in the Industrial East End of London

Carmen and Hari's Hackney Wick Pre Wedding Shoot

Carmen and Hari decided to visit an Uncle's workshop in Hackney Wick for their Pre Wedding shoot; this is the perfect example of keeping the location personal and relevant. As an Essex Wedding Photographer, Hackney Wick was only a 40 minute train journey which was a lovely change to driving everywhere!

Their wedding day is in two months time in the beautiful countryside, which meant this shoot was going to produce very different portraits to their wedding day. I love to provide couples with a variety of different type of photographs so this was perfect.

My light and airy wedding photography style was still able to be used on this cloudy, rainy London day but for some shots, I did get more creative with silhouettes. Initially, the plan was to shoot later in the day to capture golden hour; my favourite time to photograph but unfortunately it was very cloudy that day, so we decided to move the shoot forward slightly. It is essential to be adaptable for pre-wedding shoots in case the weather doesn't play ball - we can't be so flexible on your wedding day!

Lots of couples ask me "Why do a Pre Wedding Shoot?" I find my clients are far more relaxed on their wedding day regarding photos if they have previously had a shoot with me. Pre-wedding shoots are a practise run for the big day, and it's an excellent way for me as a wedding photographer to understand how my clients interact and how to get the best outcome in images.

By opting for a pre-wedding shoot, I discovered Carmen and Hari are so much fun and are willing to be very playful as there was piggybacks, jumping and dancing involved. I now know on their wedding day I will encourage this to get the most authentic photographs of them both together.

We also discussed lots of small details about their day such as the entertainment, the outfits, and the venue. Irnham Hall isn't a local Essex Wedding Venue so before I visit it is great to find out any extra pieces of information that will help me and my second shooter.

Finally, sending the couple a gallery of images instills confidence in choosing me as their wedding photographer.  They know what they look like in my pictures, my colourings and know my light and airy style is consistent.
